7. Strategies to use with the book
We will come to circle by hopping like a frog. Once we are settled into story time, I will read the book. Throughout the story, I will stop and ask questions to ensure comprehension. We will then sing the song Five Little Speckled Frogs.

After reading, we will match some pre-selected picture vocabulary words on the felt board (If I had a smartboard like the rest of my school, we would use that, but I do not.) In order to do our vocabulary, we sing the “Surprise Bag” song and each child pulls out a vocabulary word. They then run it through the smart talk device, it reads the word to them and then they match it to the same picture on the felt board.

Because I am a frog lover, we would then name the tadpoles that I will have purchased for the class. We will watch them each day as they make the change from tadpole to frog.
